The 3rd grade hosted an international feast where each student was to bring something from their heritage to share with the grade. Students brought pizza, tacos, Ethiopia dishes, Indian cuisine, etc. I called my Aunt Alice and asked if she had any recipes she could share with Philip. She sent the recipe for Chrusciki. She offered to come over and help us make it but I thought Philip and I could attempt it together. In hindsight, I should have taken her up on the offer. It was more difficult than I thought it would be but more than that, although we didn't know it at the time, Aunt Alice's cancer would return over the next couple of months. She passed away in April 2019 and that would have been nice to share that cooking time with her. But I do have the recipe she sent me and the memory of her being so glad to share the Polish history with Philip.
