Here are some recent things about Jackson that made us smile -
1. While Wesley was home on paternity leave, he was watching the Jackson one afternoon while I was sleeping. Jackson asked if he could go over to our neighbors house to play. Wesley said, yes, he could go see if they were home. Several minutes later, Jackson came back and told Wesley, "Their cars are there but they aren't at home. Oh, wait! I didn't look upstairs!"
Wesley then asked if Jackson had knocked or just gone in looking for him. Jackson's response, "I went in looking for them!"
I went over to apologize for Jackson coming in on them, and Christina said, "Well, I was on my way into the bathroom when the front door opened. In came Jackson who said he was looking for Carson and Caitlyn. So, I just smiled and continued into the bathroom."
I was mortified but she said she was fine with it. It meant he was comfortably enough with them to just come on in!
That's too comfortable for my book!
2. On Philip's birthday, Philip and I made muffins to take to his class at school. I was going in with him to drop them off and I asked Jackson if he wanted to join us. He said, "Yes" and I said "Good. This will be the last time you can do this. Next year, you will be in kindergarten."
Then, under my breath, I said, "I'm not ready for that!"
He heard me and said, "I am! Mrs. Mary has made me ready!" Then after a short pause, he added, "and you have too, Mommy!"
Melt my heart!
3. Monday, Jackson ran in to tell me "Boy" and "Johnny" were back! Boy and Johnny are his imaginary friends from when he was younger. I was so excited to know they had returned and even more excited when Jackson said Johnny's mom just had a baby sister, Vo!
4. We were making muffins this weekend. I asked him to pour the dry ingredients into the bowl but to be careful. He replied, "I can do this, Mom. I have been practicing for years!"
