Quick update: Wednesday February 25, 6:00am
The process of waking Philip up is going great. Both our nurse and the Respiratory Therapist say he is not only doing good, he's doing "fantastic". They are über impressed by his ability to be patient with all the tubes and his ability to calm himself down. 5 year olds are not supposed to be able to do those things so well. Our nurse tonight is incredible with our sweet boy and mommy has been doing an amazing job of working with him throughout the night. Please say a prayer of blessing on our nurse, Lisa, she has truly been a blessing to us. As she was suctioning his mouth earlier, she asked him if he could open his mouth and he opened it SO WIDE. Show. Off. smile emoticon.
I am beginning to believe that as we worked on Philips physical body, the Angels he was surrounded by prepared Him for such a time as this. He really is blowing us away with how alert he is but so calm and peaceful at the same time. And when I say alert, he watches every move Lisa makes. Gods design of Philip is so remarkable.
The final X-ray to take a look at his lungs looked great and the respiratory therapist (who is vital to removing the breathing tube) came in and said, "X-ray looks great, he's ready to wake up." Please say a prayer of blessing on Phong, he has been our respiratory therapist and is just spectacular.
We are still a ways from removing the breathing tube. Lisa and Phong are now getting equally as excited as we are. There are high fives and smiles filling this room. Every time Philip wakes up we assure him that the Angels are still here even though he can't see them anymore.
If everything stays the course, they should remove the breathing tube by 11:00 this morning. I keep having to tell him to not worry about talking -- but I can hardly wait to hear what he has to say.
God is showing Himself BIG tonight ...... But at this point our only response can be: "well, what else is new."
