This afternoon, Philip, Jackson & I participated in the 2nd Annual race at the Forsyth YMCA. Last year, Jackson ran in the Tot Trot. It was great but since I knew he could do more since he did a mile with Wesley in the fall, I wanted to sign him up for the Youth Race instead this year. The Youth Race was for 6 and up but if I agreed to run with him, I could register him for the one mile race.
It began at 2:00. We lined up and when they said "Go!" Jackson took off! I slowly ran behind him hoping he would eventually slow down! He did slow down and walked a few times, but most of the race, he was running very quickly! I one point, I told him to pace himself and he said, "I don't want to be last!" It was a great opportunity to say that someone had to be last.
We continued together until the last hill when I let him run ahead. He was a few steps ahead until he saw the finish line and he TOOK OFF! He was going so fast! I was so proud of him!

Finishing Strong!
After the race, Philip told me, "Mommy, Jackson beat you like a drum!" |
Philip's race was next and he was all lined up to take off until Y Bear made his appearance. We knew Philip didn't particularly like Y Bear but we didn't know the extent of his dislike until he refused to run if Y Bear was running. He climbed up Wesley and asked to leave! We picked up Elizabeth from the child watch and headed out...the whole time reassuring Philip Y Bear was no where around!
